Liao Hansheng is a lieutenant general in the founding of People’s Republic of China. He has lost in touch with his daughter for years due to the war and eventually had a reunion till the countrywide liberation. Then, his daughter came to know his high status and hoped to get some help in finding a job. Guilty father as he was for the long-lost daughter, General Liao refused, insisting that the local government not give her a job. At that very time, the new China had just been established with a thousand things to be done. He held the view that he should set a good example. How could public power be taken advantage of? His children were also ordinary people and should be treated the same with no privileges.
